On Monday 22nd of December we visited one of our favorite wine producers – Castell d’ Age – in La Beguda Baixa, Penedès. We met with Olivia at the entrance of the old ¨masia¨ were we could find the store. We noticed there was a constant flow of people buying in that store. It is in front of the main street so people parked the car in front and took the boxes or bottles with them. Later on we had a tour around the old house were we could see the offices, the machinery and the cavas where they store the aging wines.
It was a beautiful winter day, blue sky and not really cold. They told us that because of the wind two weeks ago they lost two ancient trees in the forest near by their house. Olivia is the proud granddaughter of Aurèlia, the first entrepreneur lady in the family, and the daughter of Anne Marie, Swiss from origin and Catalan by heart. She is very energetic and talks with enthusiasm and passion about their history and wines. She also took us to the main ¨masia¨ surrounded by vineyards and with the impressive Montserrat hill in the background. Astonishing view, breath taking atmosphere. We felt in love with it.
